THE St ALBANS TENNIS LEAGUE

++ Good news... play is again possible at Batchwood after the fire which destroyed the centre in the summer under the recently installed bubble. There are three indoor courts and one outdoor court and booking should be made by phone seven days in advance. There will be high demand for courts but there are slots available to the general public. Phone 01727 844250 for details.++

Before you get playing!

New members are welcome to join at any point, but you will need to wait till the start of the next round before you can start playing.

There are four rounds a year of singles, so you shouldn't have to wait long.

This is a mixed singles league, (with mixed doubles also offered)

It’s divided into groups of about 6 players of a similar standard

Everyone in their group plays everyone else on Highbury Fields unless another venue suits both parties

Matches are the best of three tie break sets (allow 2 hours per match)

It’s up to everyone to arrange their own matches

You get one point for every set you win.

At the end of the round, the top one or two players go up to the next group, and the bottom one

or two go down.

You get a free can of balls and two bonus points if you complete three matches by the half way point.

Everyone who wins their group wins a bottle of champagne and one of our mighty fine certificates.

Welcome to St Albans Tennis League. The league is centred on the public courts in the St Albans area (including the courts at the Batchwood Centre.)

The league is open to all adult players in the St Albans area of Hertfordshire. You don't have to be a member, and you may play your match on any court that suits both parties.

This league is designed to offer an easy structure to play competitive matches at a time that suits you.

How to start playing
